Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has congratulated Nigerians, especially Muslims in the State, on a good Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr celebration this year.

Following 30 days of fasting, prayer, and other spiritual practices, the celebration signifies the conclusion of a month-long spiritual rebirth.

In a statement released on Thursday by Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, the governor exhorted Muslims to stay on the road of spirituality, welfarism, and peaceful coexistence in the state.

The Governor thanked the Muslims for their devotion to prayers and sacrifices during the Holy Month and encouraged them to keep modeling the virtues of Ramadan, which include giving thanks to Allah, helping the underprivileged and vulnerable in society, and being kind and giving to one another, among other good deeds.

“I join millions of people worldwide in wishing Eid Mubarak to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos State and Nigeria,” he declared. We give thanks to God for keeping us alive so we can observe Holy Month and celebrate Eid-el-Fitr this year.

One of the five pillars of Islam, Ramadan holds great significance for Muslims. In line with the teachings of the Quran, fasting during the month of Ramadan encourages us to abstain from worldly pleasures, remain faithful in our prayers, and fully submit to Allah’s will.

“As we have always done in the State, I implore the Muslim faithful in Lagos State to continue living in unity and peace with followers of other faiths. As they did throughout Ramadan, they ought to keep up their good deeds, such as lending a hand to the weak and impoverished in society, giving thanks to Allah, and being kind and giving to one another.

Nigerians were advised to pray for world peace by Governor Sanwo-Olu. He exhorted everyone to band together and cooperate for Lagos and Nigeria’s advancement.

“Let us continue to remember our state, our nation, and the innumerable souls worldwide who seek peace, mercy, and guidance from Allah,” he declared. Let us continue to pray for Nigeria to remain peaceful and stable.

“Let us humbly ask the Almighty Allah to grant peace throughout the land, to guide those entrusted with leadership with wisdom and fairness, and to ensure that our collective actions reflect justice, unity, and the common good for all as we approach another significant juncture in our democratic journey.”
