According to Professor Ibrahim Uthman, Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, there is no reason for any Muslim in Nigeria to disobey the orders of Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, who also serves as President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
This statement was given by Arabic and Islamic Studies professor Uthman on Friday, just after he led the Muslim congregation in observing the two required Rakat in honor of this year’s Eld-Fitri celebration.
Eld-Fitri was observed by Muslims worldwide on Friday to commemorate the conclusion of this year’s Ramadan fast.
Speaking to the crowd, Ibrahim said that the Sultan of Sokoto had brought Nigerian Muslims together and eliminated any disparities between the North and the South, particularly with regard to matters pertaining to the Ramadan fast.
“There is no reason for any Muslim in Nigeria to defy the Sultan of Sokoto’s order,” he declared. We give thanks to God that we have a leader who has implemented improvements, particularly with regard to matters pertaining to the Ramadan fast.
“We used to have inconsistencies and fasted for 28 days prior to his arrival, but since he joined the team, everything has been in order.
All of our leaders, both religious and political, are in our prayers. I pray that God will keep them on the correct road. Thank you.
“Allah is wonderful. He has delivered on His promise to us. Let’s keep praising Allah Ta’ala. Let’s keep preaching the virtues that Allah Ta’ala has commanded.
