Former All Progressives Congress (APC) Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of wanting to move Nigeria’s capital from Abuja to Lagos if he is re-elected in 2027.
On Monday, Frank made this accusation public in a statement.
For what he called a “Lagos-centric agenda,” the former APC leader attacked Tinubu’s administration.
He claimed that it is now evident to him that the President is pursuing a plan to marginalize other areas.
Frank claims that Tinubu’s administration makes important decisions with Lagos State’s best interests in mind.
According to Frank, “it is now evident that the President’s long-term plan is to concentrate political and economic power in Lagos if given another term in office.”
Frank further asserted that Tinubu’s federal appointments and development programs have been predominantly biased, cautioning that this tendency threatens national cohesion.
“A president who is biased is not what we want,” he declared.
Where do Tinubu’s Memorandums of Understanding relate to industrial growth in the Southeast, oil and gas development in the South-South, and agriculture and livestock production in the North? No!
Second, this administration has divided Nigeria and its citizens along ethnic and regional lines like no other president in the country’s history has.
It is really concerning that Nigerians are feeling more and more alienated and divided.
According to Frank, “it seems to be a purposeful strategy to impoverish certain regions, especially the North, South, and Southeast, so that citizens are economically weakened prior to the 2027 election cycle.”
