The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Lagos State has advised opposition parties to refocus their efforts on rebuilding their institutions and being ready for upcoming elections instead of running for what it called completed mandates from the 2027 elections.

In response to recent political actions and remarks by opposition groups around the state and the nation, the party announced this in a statement released on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Seye Oladejo.

The APC asserts that although opposition parties are still essential to democratic governance, their participation must be directed by responsibility and realism.

The statement stated, “While opposition parties play a significant role in strengthening democratic governance, such participation must be grounded in realism, responsibility, and respect for the mandate freely given by the people.”

The party went on to say that the results of the most recent elections demonstrated Nigerians’ faith in its development plan and leadership.

Opposition groups were also chastised by the ruling party for what it called inadequate planning and a lack of unity, especially before to the party primaries.

It pointed out that last-minute coalitions between opposition leaders suggested internal disarray.

“We strongly advise opposition elements to concentrate on rebuilding, re-strategizing, and meaningfully preparing for the 2031 elections, rather than wasting energy contesting settled mandates,” the statement continued.

The APC reaffirmed its dedication to government, emphasizing that fulfilling its promises to Nigerians continues to be its top priority.

The party claims that strengthening security, increasing economic opportunities, upgrading infrastructure, and promoting citizen welfare are among its top concerns.

Additionally, the party called on opposition players to take on a more positive role by recognizing election results and conforming to current political reality.

“There is plenty of time on the path to 2031 for introspection, internal changes, and the creation of viable alternatives. Lagosians anticipate that all political actors will make constructive contributions to our state’s peace, stability, and advancement till then, according to the statement.
