Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has praised Aba’s security forces for not abusing locals who took part in a free Nnamdi Kanu demonstration on March 12, 2026.

The governor also expressed gratitude to the people of Enyimba City for their peaceful behavior and refraining from using violence.

Speaking at administration House in Umuahia on Friday during his monthly media conference, Otti stated that the Abia State administration took all necessary steps to prevent a breakdown of law and order after learning about the development.

Additionally, he emphasized that the information his office received demonstrated that the security agencies had not mistreated the locals.

“We are grateful that the security forces did not use violence on the locals. We also applaud the citizens of Aba for their tranquility.

Governor Otti stated that his administration will never allow the destruction of people’s fields in response to the alleged actions of herdsmen in various Abia villages.

However, he advised Abia citizens to report the laws to the appropriate authorities so that the appropriate action may be taken instead of enforcing them themselves.

“Any herdsman ruining people’s land is intolerable to us. Additionally, we urge people to refrain from enforcing their own rules,” he stated.

Regarding the rising cost of housing in Umuahia and Aba, Otti stated that he would not compel landlords to charge low prices because, in his opinion, the influx of people from other towns and the great demand for accommodations are the main causes of the high cost.

However, he claimed that the housing complexes his administration is currently constructing throughout the state will aid in addressing the problems associated with house rent.
