Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, a former presidential adviser, has declared that he no longer believes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party’s national conference.

This revelation was made by Obono-Obla in a Calabar statement titled “Reflections on My Party Journey.”

The incumbent was reinstated after the former chairman of the Special Presidential Panel on Recovery of Public Property under former President Muhammadu Buhari publicly expressed his interest in running for the APC’s National Secretary position. He was informed that the previous zoning arrangement was still in effect.

Then, Obono-Obla announced that he would like to be the National Publicity Secretary. But once more, he was rejected.

He added, “My faith in the Party to which I have given my all since 2013 is now badly shaken, more than ever before,” in response to the national convention’s results.

“I didn’t mind when the Party refused to allow me to run for senator in 2022. In order to ensure its victory in the 2023 national and state elections, I kept up my relentless efforts.

“I committed myself daily to using social, traditional, and new media to advance, spread, and defend the Party and its government. However, as I consider my next course of action, it appears that some recent Party members are making a concerted effort to expel foundation members—sadly, with the backing of the leadership.

He said that although his dedication is still undeniable, the circumstance necessitates serious contemplation and that the future must be chosen with courage and clarity.

The fight for recognition and relevance within the party was still going on, he pointed out with a hint of rage.

However, he reaffirmed that he is unwavering in his desire to uphold his personal values.
