According to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, some people are unhappy about the collaboration between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this claim on Monday night while speaking to a group of PDP and APC stakeholders at his official residence in Life Camp, Abuja.

Wike warned against the “rush” for endorsements and the internal strife brought on by selfish goals.

The minister emphasized that the group’s current political position was based more on dedication and solidarity than on financial clout.

He cautioned that because of their effective cooperation, other forces are aggressively working to split the stakeholders’ ranks.

It would be challenging if we weren’t cooperating and united. People must do everything in their power to keep us apart because they are unhappy that we are collaborating,” Wike said.

However, he expressed dissatisfaction with some people who, after being appointed due to the group’s influence, have now criticized the leadership.

Such actions, according to the minister, are a sign of a lack of character, and he cautioned that individuals who try to displace others by lying will fail.

He remarked, “Woe be unto the person that we have given an appointment [who] goes back to castigate,” pointing out that many of the people who had previously sought his mentorship could no longer look him in the eye.

Wike denied reports of private endorsements for municipal officials in future political cycles, stating that his public and private stances are unchanged.

He insisted that the presidency is currently the only endorsement that is acknowledged.

According to Wike, he hasn’t endorsed anyone for the PDP or APC at the state level and won’t until elders get together. He reiterated that President Bola Tinubu is the only candidate the group has formally supported.

“Anything I say in the night is what I will say in the daytime,” the minister said to emphasize his openness.

Wike praised the leadership of both parties, the council chairmen, and the elders of Rivers for their cooperation in bringing the delegates together.

He pointed out that the absence of complaints about members “carrying along” was evidence of the event’s success.
