According to Nigerian Senior Advocate Oba Maduabuchi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot advance without a ruling from the Supreme Court.

This declaration was made by Maduabuchi on Monday during an interview with Arise Television.

The Court of Appeal, he claimed, supported the removal of Pro-Wike group members.

The senior attorney pointed out that notwithstanding this, the same individuals were chosen to serve on the National Working Committee at the most recent PDP national convention.

He claims that Justice James Omotoso of the Federal High Court’s decision is inconsistent, stating that “you can’t say the Pro-Wike faction was rightly expelled from the party and then affirm Abdulrahman Mohammed-led administration as authentic.”

“We must go back to the beginning in order to understand how terrible things have gotten. The PDP’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, was widely accepted.

After his removal, Umar Damagum took his place. Despite his difficulties, Damagum continued to serve until the conclusion of his term in December 2025.

At that point, we began to experience issues. Mohammed Abdulrahman unexpectedly rose to the position of acting or chairman of the caretaker committee. For my part, I was unaware of his origins.

Additionally, Damagum NWC notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that they would be holding a meeting to discuss their convention and other matters, and INEC agreed. 21 days were allotted to them.

During the meeting, some members of the party were dismissed or expelled. In actuality, PDP cannot advance without a Supreme Court ruling, he said.
