To commemorate this year’s Easter festival, the Federal Government has set Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays.

Easter Monday is April 6, and Good Friday is April 3.

This was revealed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in a statement on Wednesday.

He expressed his congratulations on the occasion to Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora.

“I congratulate all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter,” Tunji-Ojo said, encouraging Nigerians to consider the values connected to the season. As demonstrated by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, I implore Nigerians to embrace the values of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love.

He also urged citizens to stand together, emphasizing the value of harmonious cohabitation.

Easter serves as a reminder of the ideals of community and tolerance that unite our country. The minister stated, “Nigerians should continue to be dedicated to these principles for the advancement of our nation.”

The Federal Government’s dedication to national development policies was also reaffirmed by Tunji-Ojo.

“The government’s objective is still to make decisions that will result in economic growth, national revitalization, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians,” he continued.

The pastor wishes Christians a joyful and tranquil Easter celebration.
