The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been designated as a criminal organization by Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to reports, Abdullahi’s comments came after INEC decided to remove David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola’s names from its official portal as the ADC’s National Chairman and National Secretary.
The committee also ruled that it would not recognize Nafiu Bala, who is pursuing legal action to be named national chairman, and that recognition of all party divisions would be suspended while a substantive lawsuit was being heard by the Federal High Court.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Abdullahi responded to the situation by accusing INEC of breaking the law and picking sides in the party’s ongoing leadership conflict.
Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former party official, had resigned and the executive committee he was a member of was dissolved, according to Abdullahi, who said that Gombe no longer had the legal authority to represent the party.
He insisted that decisions made by the National Executive Committee (NEC), the party’s highest body following the convention, were already legally obligatory on the party’s leadership hierarchy.
Abdullahi further accused INEC of acting like a criminal organization and of contempt of court.

As of July 17, he was no longer a party official, and INEC was aware of this,” he stated. Thus, as I mentioned earlier, he lacks location.
“The NEC is the next most senior organ of the party, after the convention, and it has been established in court that the topic of leadership is entirely an internal matter of the political parties.
“The NEC declared that the executive to which he belonged had been duly dissolved, despite his claim that he did not resign.
What justification does INEC have for acknowledging Bala’s actions? Since August 12, INEC has been aware that he has resigned and is no longer a party official.
What justifies his recognition, then? Thus, acknowledging Nafiu Bala’s behavior implies that INEC is adopting a position.
It is illegal for INEC to have effectively disregarded the appellate court’s order.
“If you’re referring to disdain, INEC has acted in that manner. These days, INEC is acting like a criminal enterprise. Additionally, Amupitan is a chief criminal because the Court of Appeal stated that the status quo was maintained.
