In an effort to defuse growing tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Senate President David Mark has reassured supporters and members that the party’s unity will not be compromised by the ongoing leadership crisis.

According to reports, Mark made the assurance on Wednesday while speaking at a church ceremony held in his honor to commemorate his 78th birthday.

In response to worries over the party’s internal strife, the troubled national chairman stated that the party’s stability should not be threatened.

“I want to reassure our members and Nigerians in general that there is no reason for concern regarding the ongoing developments within our great party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” he stated.

Internal conflicts and conflicting leadership claims have recently plagued the ADC, casting doubt on its preparedness for the national elections in 2027.

Mark emphasized that the party stays committed to its long-term goals and characterized the differences as a normal stage in the growth of any political organization.

Any expanding organization will inevitably face challenges. Our determination as a group to defeat them is what matters, he stated.

Despite the conflicts, he insisted, the party’s members and leadership are still unified.

“We continue to be unified, committed, and focused on bolstering the party and maintaining democratic values,” he continued.

The stability of the party and the general well-being of Nigeria’s democratic system were also connected by the former Senate president.

“Let me reaffirm that we are totally dedicated to the survival of democracy and the advancement of our beloved country, Nigeria,” he declared.

Mark promised that the party would keep advancing democratic ideals and making sure that citizens receive real advantages from governing.

“To ensure that our democratic institutions are preserved and that the benefits of democracy reach all of our people, we will continue to work tirelessly, guided by discipline, integrity, and patriotism,” he declared.

As he thought back on his birthday, Mark reiterated his dedication to the advancement of the country and thanked everyone for their support over the years.

“My commitment hasn’t wavered at 78. “I am more motivated than ever to do my part to promote peace, progress, and national unity,” he declared.
