John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former governor of Edo State, says that a lot of Nigerians are unhappy with how things are going in the country right now and want things to change politically.
In an interview with Leadership Newspaper, he said that this feeling is strong, especially among young people.
He said that since the 2023 general elections, people in different parts of the country have been angry.
He says that a lot of people are still unhappy with how things are being run and want a new leader to take things in a different direction.
Oyegun also said that he thinks his time as an active politician is coming to an end.
He said that younger politicians should now take charge and lead the fight for change in the country.
Oyegun said that his time in politics has been rewarding and that he sees it as a mission accomplished in terms of building and supporting political movements.
He said that a younger generation that is more involved in politics today should now take over the job.
The former leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said that the message from young Nigerians during the 2023 elections was clear: many of them didn’t like the way things were and wanted things to change. He said that message is still affecting political talks in the country.
He said, “When the young people came out in 2023, they made a statement that enough is enough, and that statement is still being heard today.” I feel like I’ve accomplished my goal, but it’s not going to be easy. We are about to get rid of a sitting government for the second time.
