Evidence obtained by activist Omoyele Sowore suggests that Nigerian congressman Ned Nwoko may have wed Regina Daniels, his former wife, before she turned eighteen.
Sowore asserted in a post on his Facebook page that Nwoko married Regina when she was still a minor and took her abroad shortly after she became eighteen.
Sowore made this statement in response to the lawmaker’s assertions that he wed Regina when she was 21, not 17.
To support his assertion, Nwoko provided Regina’s voter card.
To demonstrate that the actress was not 21 when she married the legislator, Sowore included a photo of Regina’s passport in his article.
“Senator Chinedu “Ned” Nwoko Senator @nednwokoforsenate of the @apcnationalsec may believe he can outsmart the public, but the record tells a different story,” he said.
“Evidence currently available in the public domain demonstrates that he married Regina Ojeogwu Nnaemeka Favour @regina.daniels when she was still a teenager. Shortly after she turned eighteen, the couple traveled to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).”
According to people familiar with the situation, Ned Nwoko personally handled her travel paperwork for that trip to commemorate her eighteenth birthday.
The now-disgraced @NigeriaPoliceForce has regularly been utilized by the same Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, who is well-known for flaunting his wealth and power, to harass and detain members of his estranged wife’s family and anyone who speak out against his well-documented impunity.
“This harassment must cease.
“State institutions are used as private weapons by individuals with enormous political power and dubious fortunes.”
Accountability is a necessary component of justice, especially for the wealthy and powerful. Impunity ought to cease.
“Sowore posted pictures of a passport she obtained two years prior to marrying Nwoko and another she obtained years after her marriage to the lawmaker to support his claim.”
