Haba, Na Only You? – Donald Duke Mocks Atiku Over Endless Presidential Ambition

Donald Duke, who used to be the governor of Rivers State, can’t believe that former President Atiku Abubakar is still running for president.

He called the move silly and questioned Atiku’s desire to stay in power.

At a recent meeting, the ADC leader asked why Atiku has been trying to become the president of Nigeria for almost 30 years.

“Atiku has been running for president since 1992,” he said. He ran against MKO Abiola in 1999 and then against Obasanjo in 2003, which caused a big fight between them. He ran against Jonathan again in 2011, and then again in 2019 and 2023. Haba! You are the only one here?

The ADC chief said that every leader should take a break and let someone else lead at some point in their career. “At some point, you have to say, ‘That’s enough.’ Duke said, “Let me be the kingmaker instead of the king.”

He talked about how the North has been in charge of Nigeria many times, which raised concerns about the country’s political balance.

He asked, “How do you explain to our kids that after eight years of Northern leadership, we go back to another eight years of Northern leadership?” He said that he is not in favor of zoning, but that fairness should be a factor in leadership choices.
