Nafiu Bala Gombe’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) has turned down a video that is currently going around that shows an empty national convention venue for his party’s faction.
Nafiu said that the video was made by people who work for a coalition’s propaganda machine.
He said that the video wrongly talked about a supposed elective convention that was supposedly held at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
Hon. Bala Sani Kumo, his Chief of Staff, said that the national leadership of the ADC, which he leads, never sent out a notice about any elective convention to its members and has not given permission for one to happen.
He stressed that the party is committed to following the law, due process, and constitutionalism. It will wait for the Federal High Court to decide a case that is currently before it and for the Supreme Court to decide an appeal that is also pending.
The statement said, “The video mentioned above, made by agents of the coalition’s propaganda machine, talks about a supposed ADC elective convention that was supposedly held at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.
“To set the record straight, the ADC has never sent out a notice of an elective convention to its members or allowed any such gathering to happen. This is because Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe is the national leader of the ADC.
“The ADC is a responsible and law-abiding political party that follows the rules of due process, constitutionalism, and the rule of law. It will wait for the Federal High Court to decide the case that is currently pending and the Supreme Court to decide the related appeal. The case has been put off until April 22, 2026.
“We still have faith in the legal system and hope that the Court’s decision will back up our case.”
“After the judgment is delivered, the party will use its official and recognized channels to let our valued members and the general public know about the approved schedule of activities.”
