Kunle Ayorinde, the former leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ibadan North East local government area of Oyo State, says that some people are trying to ruin Governor Seyi Makinde’s name.

Ayorinde said this during an interview with reporters, which was a reason for his switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ayorinde said he was one of the people who helped Governor Makinde win in 2019, but he didn’t get paid for the work he did.

Ayorinde says he tried to talk to the governor about his views, but the people in charge of Makinde’s government stopped him.

He said, “We worked for the party’s victory in 2023 in the hope that Governor Seyi Makinde would pay us back.”

“Unfortunately, instead of paying us back, the people in charge stopped everyone from seeing him (the governor) and telling him what we thought.

“Politics is work, and you should get paid for it. People are working behind Governor Seyi Makinde to make his name look bad, even though he is a good leader.

The Oyo State House of Assembly also voted unanimously on Wednesday to support Governor Makinde and Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, putting to rest rumors of an impeachment plot.

After a plenary session in Ibadan, where lawmakers reaffirmed their support for both the executive and legislative branches, the resolution was passed.

Majority Leader Sanjo Adedoyin, who moved the motion, said the claims were false.

He said the rumors were false, distracting, and had a political purpose.

Adedoyin said, “The Assembly is still united and committed to its constitutional duties, and there has been no formal communication or process in the chamber suggesting impeachment.”

Lawmakers also dismissed rumors that the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and some lawmakers were involved in plots against each other.

The House said that these claims were false and misleading.
