Momodu: Atiku Cannot Be Guaranteed Victory Over Peter Obi

Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu has said there is no guarantee that Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar would have mentioned Peter Obi in the party primaries.

He cited the unpredictability of the race and the changing makeup of the opposition

Ahead of the 2027 elections, Momodu was asked to respond to Obi’s recent defection from the ADC to the New Democratic Congress (NDC) while speaking on Channels TV Morning Brief.

Obi’s resignation was based on the ongoing litigations in the ADC, but he also pointed to a deeper problem in the opposition coalition, he said.

“They are going to throw it open. No way Atiku is going to defeat Obi at the primaries. “Obi has decided to go and that’s his decision. I hope he enjoys testing his popularity somewhere else.”

“You cannot force Atiku out for a man who says if he and Kwankwaso come together, the election is over by noon,” Momodu said. “It’s important to allow others to test their popularity somewhere else. But it’s equally important to recognize that the election is a numbers game.”

Momodu was cautious about Obi’s potential impact in the 2027 race, pointing to the changing political winds but not making any definitive predictions regarding voter turnout. He asked if Atiku could keep the same level of support he had in the last election cycle with the changing
