In light of the PDP’s worsening national crisis, the Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denounced those posing as its delegates at the party’s convention in Ibadan, cautioning that no legitimate delegates from the state participated in the exercise.
In a statement published on his official Facebook page late on Saturday, the party’s state chairman, Aliyu Jalam Gumel, made the disclaimer that the Jigawa PDP was not represented at the convention.
His stance was taken just hours after the Ibadan event proceeded in spite of a new Federal High Court ruling that stopped it and confirmed former governor Sule Lamido’s ability to run for party leadership.
According to Gumel, imposters posing as Jigawa elected delegates have been spreading misleading information online.
“We are not represented by these imposters. He wrote, “Jigawa PDP is dedicated to sincere reconciliation and legal procedures that unite, not divide, our great party.”
Anyone posing as a Jigawa delegate at the Ibadan conference, he continued, was nothing more than “a fraudster.”
The chairman emphasized that the Federal High Court ruling that restored Lamido’s eligibility to run for chairperson was consistent with the chapter’s decision to abstain from the convention.
“Under my direction, the Jigawa chapter has completely abstained from the event. This position is in line with the court ruling that supports Lamido’s involvement in party procedures, he said.
Gumel stated that the chapter would only take part in inclusive and legal party activities.
He declared, “We are not attending the convention.” “The ruling demonstrates Jigawa’s commitment to internal reconciliation initiatives and legal directives.”
Gumel expressed concern about the party’s current situation, bemoaning the PDP’s internal strife.
He declared, “We are saddened by the way our party affairs are being handled, especially the current crisis rocking its foundations.”
He stated that Jigawa PDP was still dedicated to reestablishing unity in spite of the unrest.
“Our chapter is determined to exclusively take part in procedures that will bring our party together. He pleaded, “We call upon leaders to reach out to all aggrieved parties and find a solution to this crisis.”
The chairman reiterated the chapter’s stance and advised the public not to recognize anyone posing as Jigawa’s representative.
The PDP’s Jigawa State Chapter has disassociated itself from the current convention. He cautioned that anyone posing as a Jigawa State delegate is a scammer.
