Mahmud Sadis Buba, a politician and grassroots mobiliser, 30, has declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat to represent Sabon Gari Federal Constituency of Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

APC member Buba declared his ambition after picking the party’s Expression of Interest and nomination forms.

The aspirant disclosed this on his verified Facebook page.

Buba said he joined the race to represent the people of Sabon Gari with a purpose and to bring inclusive development to them.

“Today, I humbly announce that I have obtained my nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives, Sabon Gari Federal Constituency,” he said.

“My journey from being a driver to now has been about hard work, resilience and believing in the ability of anyone, from any background, to rise up and serve.”

Buba was born on August 2, 1995, and is from Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State.

He worked as a driver before fully transitioning to politics, which has influenced his political message of grassroots inclusion and equal opportunity.

He now chairs the “Tinubu–Uba Sani Agenda ’27” support group and has become more active in APC political circles in Kaduna State.

Buba has been spotted with key political figures over the years including President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Bello El-Rufai, and Seyi Tinubu.

He presented his nomination forms to Akpabio, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other APC leaders as part of his consultations.

Buba in his campaign message pledged to focus on honest and people-oriented representation if he is elected into the National Assembly.

He said: “I am coming with a clear vision to represent the people of Sabon Gari with honesty, dedication and true leadership.”

“Your voice will be heard, your issues will be taken seriously and together we will work for real development and opportunities for all.”

His campaign was about the progress of the people and the unity of the constituency, he said.

Reactions have trailed the aspiration from political stakeholders including former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani.

Sani had in a post on his verified X handle described Buba’s ambition as an inspiration to young Nigerians.

Hon Mahmud Sadis Buba is 30 years of age. He purchased his form to contest for the Reps seat in Zaria. A challenge to the youth,” he wrote.

Buba said he recently met Vice President Shettima, who gave him prayers and encouragement.

The support has strengthened his resolve to run, he said.

If elected in 2027, Buba would be one of the youngest lawmakers in the National Assembly and could also make history as the shortest person to serve in the Nigerian parliament.
