The former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, said Nigeria did not collapse under his watch.

This was stated by Gowon on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of his 859-page autobiography, My Life of Duty and Allegiance, titled “No Going Back”.

Complex solutions are creating unnecessary tension in every nook and corner of the country, he said.

The ex-military leader also said he was worried that Nigerians never tire of coming up with difficult solutions to simple problems.

‘The citizens, he said, would prefer to complicate the simple problems with more complex and ambiguous solutions which would generate tension in the country.

“I believe the book will correct those misgivings,” Gowon stated.

“The country did not collapse under my watch as Head of State. And I know that, despite all of its troubles, the nation still will not fall.

I hope this book can help to correct misconceptions and fill the void in popular narratives,” he said.
