Former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that his loss at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary had a deep effect on his personal life and faith.

In an interview on Arise TV, he was quoted as saying that the defeat to President Bola Tinubu not only affected him politically but also took him into a period of spiritual doubt.

Speaking on his thoughts after the primary election, Amaechi said he was more concerned about the state of the nation than his personal disappointment.

He said he was disturbed by the suffering encountered by Nigerians and started to wonder why pain persisted despite constant prayers across the country. He said this inner conflict affected his normal prayer life.

He confessed that he ceased to attend regular prayer sessions with his spiritual guide during that time.

The ex-governor said his worries about Nigeria made him withdraw and think deeply about the situation and this created a distance in his spiritual routine.

“I started asking God, ‘God, do you really think Nigerians should continue to suffer?’ And then it affected my faith a little bit, I stopped praying,“ Said Amaechi.

The former Rivers Governor also revealed that his spiritual guide later reached out to him after noticing his absence. He was reminded about faith and acceptance in matters beyond human control, and during their discussion his concerns about the nation and his doubts about prayer were addressed.
