The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has declared Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat winner of its governorship primary election in Kano State after defeating fellow aspirant, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha, son of former Head of State, Sani Abacha.
According to the result announced by the chairman of the election committee appointed by the PDP national leadership, Hon. Umar Danjani Hadejia, Muhammad Bello Dalhat got 2,233 votes to emerge winner of the contest.
In the primary election, he got 749 votes.
“With the total votes recorded, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat has scored the highest number of votes and is hereby declared winner and the PDP governorship candidate for Kano State,” the statement said.
The primary election is held as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections across the country.
