Federal Government has released activities for the 2026 Democracy Day observance scheduled for June 12.
Speaking on the activities, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume described Democracy Day as a solemn occasion to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigerians that fought for the return of democratic rule.
Akume said the day is to give special tribute to the heroes of the June 12, 1993 struggle and the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.
He said the day presents the Federal Government with an opportunity to showcase its accomplishments in strengthening democratic institutions and advancing national development despite the prevailing socio-economic challenges.
