The Accord Party’s Osun State chapter has confirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke is still the party’s unchallenged nominee for the governorship on August 8.
Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Thursday, Victor Akande, the chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, described Clement Bamigbola’s alleged candidacy as a “waste of time and resources,” maintaining that Adeleke’s position as the party flagbearer is certain.

The chairman of the party called allegations of an inside division “baseless.”

“The Kangaroo Primary, which is allegedly being hosted by an imaginary group, is a hoax. According to the law, such a division does not exist inside our party structure, Akande stated.

He went on to say that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has handled issues of a similar kind in other states, including as Anambra and Ekiti, and he promised that Osun will be no exception.

“Those who were disseminating information about a factional candidate are only political manipulators looking for attention in order to make money. However, I can assure you that Governor Adeleke has no opponent in terms of our party ticket,” he emphasized.

In response to worries about the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bola Oyebamiji, its candidate for governor, Akande expressed assurance that Adeleke’s reelection campaign is not threatened by the ruling party.

“We are aware of the APC’s history and their style of governance throughout their tenure in office. By paying half of their salaries, the party turned workers into beggars. We would never go back to that time period,” he declared.

Residents of Osun were reminded by Akande of the APC’s defeat in the 2022 elections, and he promised that they would raise their voices even more in August.

He continued, “The people rejected the APC in the 2022 election and would even speak louder in August to make APC realize that Osun does not want the party to return it to the era of darkness.”
