The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted social media rumors that it has already chosen a candidate for the Osun State governorship in 2026.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, characterized the reports as untrue, deceptive, and untraceable to any official ADC communication channel in a statement released on Sunday.
“No one has been chosen prior to the primary process, and ADC does not hand-pick candidates,” Abdullahi declared.
He clarified that the ADC was still dedicated to internal democracy and due procedure and that the party had already declared the official date of its Osun primaries.
He claimed that the claims that went viral originated from unreliable publications and blogs rather than any official ADC channel.
Abdullahi emphasized that until the party’s authorized bodies had the primaries, no candidate could be considered.
He declared, “No candidacy is valid or recognized until the primaries are conducted by the party’s authorized organs.”
A free, fair, and level playing field would be provided to all candidates, the spokesperson promised the public and party members.
Abdullahi continued, “We urge the public to ignore any and all such reports.”
Prior to the 2027 general elections, former vice president Atiku Abubakar announced earlier in Jalingo that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is poised for significant political progress.
In a message uploaded on the social media site 𝕏 on Friday, Atiku, who finished his official registration as a party member last Thursday in Yola, Adamawa, made the announcement.
The former vice president posted pictures of himself getting his ADC membership card and a personalized Waziri 01-branded shirt, which gave the brief occasion more color and meaning.
Despite being brief, the registration ceremony reportedly attracted a sizable gathering of Adamawa’s youth organizations, community leaders, party leaders, and devoted fans.
Atiku cited the ADC’s grassroots regional consolidation as evidence of the party’s expanding national appeal. He wrote: “Yesterday, the ADC train made a stopover in Jalingo for the unveiling of the Taraba State secretariat of the Coalition Party,” reiterating the continuous national movement.
“The ADC is coming your way; there is no stopping it.”
Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation magazine, pleaded with influential opposition leaders earlier on Wednesday to establish a strategic partnership with former vice president Atiku Abubakar, characterizing the action as an essential “rescue mission” for Nigeria. Jadie
In his keynote address at the conclusion of a week-long celebration in Jada to commemorate Abubakar’s birthday, Momodu outlined the former vice president’s political career while emphasizing his democratic credentials and nonviolent outlook.
