Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has emphasized the value of education, pointing out that people who are well-read are more resilient than those who rely on force to survive.

Speaking as the special guest of honor at the founding of Minaret University in Ikirun and the investiture of Prof. Abdullah Abdur-Rahman, the institution’s first vice chairman, the governor made this statement yesterday.

According to Adeleke, Osun State is continuing to build on the legacy of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who ensured an engaged populace prepared to oppose oppression, impunity, and lawlessness.

The governor praised the institution’s founder, the Athemadiyya Muslim community, and stated: “Osun State will continue to advance in scholarship and good governance with the Minaret and other upcoming private institutions as well as both existing old colleges and universities.” The state will continue to be proud both domestically and abroad thanks to our sons and girls. Osun State will never regress because the clock of progress will always be on our side.

Through its free education policy, the late Bola Ige administration increased the first republic’s mileage. In the new Osun State, that heritage was expanded upon to ensure an engaged populace prepared and equipped to oppose oppression, impunity, and lawlessness.

An educated public is impervious to deception; they are aware of the realities of governing. They have facts based on their confirmed assessment, therefore they are not swayed by fake news. They hate anti-people government leaders; they love good leaders. The informed populace evaluates their leaders every day; they can distinguish between those who are liars and those who are actually working for the government.

The university was founded at a time when Nigeria is facing significant social, economic, and ethical issues, according to Azeez Alatoye, the chancellor of Minaret University, who also stated that the university is well-positioned to address these issues through high-quality instruction, pertinent research, innovation, and community involvement.

Data science, information technology, computer science, cyber security, accounting, economics, business administration, marketing, logistics, and supply chain management are among the programs that the university has launched, according to Alatoye.
