Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, stated on Saturday that President Bola Tinubu is extremely disturbed by the ongoing killings in Plateau State and throughout Nigeria, saying that the violence has caused suffering for both the government and the country.

Speaking at the official reception of political defectors into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State at the Jos Polo Field, Akpabio stated that the President is committed to reestablishing peace and guaranteeing the safety of locals.

Representing Tinubu at the ceremony, Akpabio declared, “I cry whenever I hear the killing of a human being, whether a child or an adult.”

“We are unhappy because a lot of blood has been shed. The Nigerian President is also unhappy.

Akpabio maintained that Nigerians must work together to establish enduring peace rather than relying on outside intervention.

“People from outside won’t come and bring you tranquility. Peace must be brought about by us. We have to live in harmony with each other. For Nigeria to advance, there must be peace,” he said.

Residents of the Plateau were reassured by the Senate President that the President has ordered the federal government to step up efforts to put an end to violence in the state.

He stated, “Let me reassure the people of Plateau State that your concerns will be addressed.”

Akpabio noted that many of the international reports being mentioned now are based on incidents that occurred more than ten years ago and linked a large portion of the current insecurity to previous rounds of violence.

The entire process began in 2010. The majority of the reports you hear about that are being used abroad were created around 2010. He remarked, “I was a governor at the time, and I know how people were killed everywhere.”

The government is dedicated to reverse the trend, he said, despite the fact that the extent of the fatalities, displacement, and destruction cannot be disputed.

According to Akpabio, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing about peace and stability not only in the Plateau but throughout the entire nation, acknowledging the suffering of the populace.

“We will make every effort to guarantee your tranquility,” he declared.

He emphasized that peace must be a top priority for anyone hoping to rule the Plateau. “Peace is an essential for anyone who would govern the Plateau. Akpabio went on, “This is the only group that is concerned about you.

The Senate President urged citizens to back President Tinubu and the APC, claiming that the state will advance through collaboration with the federal government.

He argued that all citizens must embrace peace and unity since they are essential to the advancement of the country.
