Aminu Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Tambuwal, who presently serves as the Senate representative for Sokoto South, submitted a letter dated March 11 to the PDP ward chairman in Tambuwal/Shinfiri ward, outlining his choice.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives explained his departure by pointing to the party’s differences and ongoing internal crises.
Early on Thursday morning, he declared that he had officially registered to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing extensive consultations and careful thought.
“It has become more challenging for me to maintain my active participation and commitment as a member due to the leadership disputes and divisions within the party at different levels.”
“Unfortunately, the ongoing conflicts have undermined the party’s unity and direction,” he added.
Tambuwal, however, thanked the PDP for providing him with the chance to serve the nation in a variety of roles.
He went on to say that he made this choice because he felt Nigeria needed “a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development.”
