Before its upcoming congresses, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has decided to use the consensus option for choosing party officials at the ward, local government, state, and national levels.

Tuesday’s decision was made at the State Executive Council’s extended meeting, which took place at Government House in Lafia.

According to reports, the resolution allowed non-executive members to take part in the meeting’s discussions after a motion was made by the party’s legal advisor and approved by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Increased stakeholder participation and a wider consensus in the party’s decision-making process were made possible by this action.

After that, Hon. Hassan Abubakar Nalaraba, a member of the state executive and the representative for the Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was called by APC state chairman Dr. Aliyu Bello to formally move the resolution on consensus.

“I propose that this enlarged State Executive Council embrace consensus as the preferred method for choosing party representatives at ward, local, state, and national congresses, as long as it is openly and willingly accomplished by all parties involved. “I move so much,” Nalaraba remarked.

Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, the APC’s Deputy National Secretary, seconded the motion (SAN).

The meeting was presided over by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State and former National Chairman of the APC. Members overwhelmingly approved the decision after a voice vote.

Dr. Bello stated in his opening remarks that the purpose of the gathering was to inform stakeholders and party leaders on recent changes within the APC, especially those under the new national leadership.

He noted that more politicians were defecting to the APC and that the party’s popularity was still rising throughout the state.

Sule: “Consensus Will Promote Peace” Governor Sule applauded the approval of consensus, characterizing it as a preemptive measure that would help avoid internal conflicts during the congresses.

You have lessened the likelihood of difficulties. The governor declared, “Our congresses will henceforth proceed by consensus, decided by you and brought back to us.

Additionally, he reaffirmed his dedication to the zoning principle, emphasizing that it was crucial to his rise to the position of governor and has continued to advance political stability in the state.

Using the occasion to highlight some of his administration’s accomplishments, Governor Sule declared 2025 to be the most resource-rich year in Nasarawa State’s history.

Prominent party leaders, including Senator Abdullahi Adamu, former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, members of the National and State Assemblies, current and former government officials, and other important APC stakeholders in the state, were reportedly present at the meeting.
