In the forthcoming 2026 Federal Capital Territory council elections, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on voters in Abuja to reject the All Progressives Congress, or APC, saying that the elections are an opportunity for Nigerians to demand change.

“Other ADC leaders, including former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, joined me in engaging voters on the significance of the upcoming polls,” Atiku wrote in a post on his social media profile.

“This election is crucial.” “It will demonstrate the readiness of our election managers to conduct free, fair, and credible polls,” he said, adding that it would also demonstrate the readiness of the populace to call for political change.

Declaring: “Our party has fielded candidates with competence, capacity, and character to offer quality leadership across local councils in Abuja,” he called on the populace to turn out in force in support of the ADC politicians.

Atiku urged voters to oppose intimidation as well. He declared, “It is the duty of voters to resist all forms of intimidation and make the right decision.”

The outgoing vice president accused the government of ignoring important national issues and attacked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The Federal Government, led by the APC, has let the people down on numerous occasions,” he claimed, adding that the FCT elections offer a chance for voters to start removing the party.

“In the upcoming elections, the APC must be defeated, and the FCT elections should be the first to be held.”
