Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, has accused Bola Tinubu’s administration of sponsoring ethnic militia groups and concentrating on political rivals rather than addressing insecurity.

Following a fatal terrorist incident in Borno State, Atiku received criticism.

The former vice president denounced the attack by suspected terrorists on a military installation and an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area, where more than 100 residents were allegedly kidnapped, in a statement released on X on Friday.

The Federal Government’s response to the attack and similar events has been insufficient, according to Atiku, who called the episode “deeply troubling.”

He claims that the nation’s growing wave of violence has spread so widely that society and the government seem to have grown accustomed to the carnage.

He said it was regrettable that the federal government appeared to be losing control of the battle against violent assaults and terrorism.

Instead, the former vice president claimed, the administration was concentrating on putting pressure on political rivals and supporting what he called self-serving ethnic militia organizations.

“It is regrettable that the current federal government seems to be losing control of the battle against violent assaults and terrorism. Rather, it appears to be more concerned with aiding self-serving ethnic militia organizations and applying extreme pressure on political opponents.

“It is depressing that the ruling party’s elite and those in charge of internal security are still focused on consolidating power while vulnerable civilians and service members are being killed,” Atiku stated.
