Demola Olarenwaju, former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s senior political assistant, called former presidential candidate Peter Obi’s defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) “historical.”

On Tuesday in Enugu State, Obi reportedly declared his intention to leave the Labour Party and join the ADC.

Speaking on the development on his 𝕏 account, Olarenwaju called on Atiku and Obi’s supporters to cooperate and guarantee a unified ticket.

He also out that under President Bola Tinubu, Nigerians’ future is not guaranteed.

“Seeing the sun at midday is not a sign of great eyesight, but rather the ability to see the sun at midnight proves our imagined reality as enlightened,” he wrote. “Peter Obi’s move to ADC is a historical pivot, repeatedly predicted by some of us.”

Therefore, the demand is for Obidients and Atikulates to sheath swords and make this happen, even as we welcome Obi to an alliance he has been a part of since the beginning.

“After all, it is our future, and under Tinubu, it is completely unsafe.”

Obi, however, has voiced his disapproval of the public celebration of electoral fraud by politicians.

According to reports, on Wednesday in Enugu State, Peter Obi made a formal announcement of his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alliance.

Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi pledged to fight any attempt to rig the 2027 election in a legitimate and legal manner.

In order to prevent pre-election controversies, he also urged early verification of candidates’ academic backgrounds.

“We have all witnessed those who benefited from our democracy now becoming accessories of our democracy through coercion or gangsterism to the opposition,” he stated.

“We will fight against this because we can’t let it happen. People are now openly cheering electoral fraud.

“And we are stating that we will use all legal and legitimate means to oppose those who intend to rig elections in Nigeria come 2027.”
