Winger Nathan Tella’s return to full squad training after a protracted period on the sidelines due to a severe knee ailment was a welcome boost for Bayer Leverkusen.
Tella finished the majority of the session for the first time since mid-September, according to the German tabloid Bild, which characterized the development as “good news for Bayer Leverkusen.”
After sustaining a knee knock during the 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on September 12, the 26-year-old was sidelined; the ailment continually delayed his recuperation.
Bild stated that “the chances are not bad that Tella will at least be in the squad,” even though it is still uncertain whether Tella will play in Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to Wolfsburg.
He did not participate in the last practice game during training, but he worked one-on-one with Axel Tape, who is also getting close to recovering from an injury, on passing and shooting drills.
After the winger’s protracted absence, manager Kasper Hjulmand seems to be gently weaning Tella back in order to ensure a painless return.
Tella’s homecoming might occur at a crucial time. Tella has a chance to regain his spot in the team because Arthur, who has been playing on the right wing in recent games, has given uneven performances.
Over the next four weeks, Leverkusen will play eight challenging games, including games against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, and RB Leipzig. Lucas Vázquez is still out due to back problems, and tape is anticipated to be reintegrated gradually because of a muscle-tendon damage.
