Following an attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim chapel in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, by bandits and terrorists, the Usman Ododo-led Kogi State Government initiated an air and ground security operation.
Sahara Reporters reports that a video uploaded on Facebook by Egbe Emekun Parrot and attributed to Olusegun Iselaiye on Sunday depicts an anti-kidnapping squad and a state-deployed helicopter searching the region for the attackers.
Tracking the offenders and ensuring the victims’ safe release are ongoing priorities.
Orlando, the pastor of the church, and an unknown number of congregants were reportedly kidnapped by the gunman.
The aftermath of a brutal attack on the church was shown in a video that surfaced from Ejiba.
The video depicts the interior of the church in disorder, with some members’ shoes and Bibles left where they had been sitting.
The individual filming the incident described the kidnapping and begged for help to free the hostages.
“This is the church where they kidnapped people, so I hid. As you can see, they abducted victims at Ejiba. Help us, please. This church’s leader, Baba Orlando, was kidnapped. The inside is visible. He said in Yoruba, “They didn’t bother to turn off the speaker or anything.”
