Benjamin Omale, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, has emphasized that the most reliable method of identifying who actually belongs to the party is the continuous digital registration of members.
Omale clarified that in addition to strengthening party institutions, the nationwide e-registration program will be crucial in guaranteeing President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia’s reelection in 2027.
He said this at the official opening of the APC membership e-registration process in Ohimini Local Government Area, his birthplace.
He emphasized that “it’s also a way for to reelect governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Tinubu in 2027,” adding that widespread involvement in the process will offer avenues for members.
He claims that while digital registration serves as the foundation for political relevance, internal democracy, and electoral success, party loyalty and dedication are crucial.
Stakeholders who do not participate in the exercise run the risk of undermining the party they purport to support at the state and federal levels, Omale said.
“Data is power in today’s political environment,” he said. A party cannot mobilize, defend, or protect its members if it does not know them.
“E-registration provides us with a validated, verifiable digital membership register that will determine who is eligible for appointments, who is recognized as a member, who casts ballots in party primaries, and who the party supports in elections.
“Let me be very clear: You are politically invisible if your name is not in the APC E-registration database.”
He added that the process would identify individuals who take part in choosing the party’s candidates and those who profit from APC-led governments.
Omale emphasized that no political figure, regardless of their power, can afford to stay out of the process, pointing out that the initiative’s major goal is to secure the APC’s future course.
He added that Governor Hyacinth Alia has given the proposal his full support and that the party must protect its membership structure from opportunists and outside influences.
He claims that the governor urges all stakeholders to assume accountability for the party’s performance, acknowledging that a robust party must be built on an open and trustworthy membership database.
He tasked local government chairmen, ward leaders, and elected and appointed officials with organizing participants, overseeing the registration procedure, and safeguarding the exercise’s integrity.
