According to a source, Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have set up new hiding places in the Tuba village, which is close to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in Borno State’s Jere Local Council.

About 200 motorcycles were seen in a jihadist stronghold in northern Borno State, according to local sources and Jere farmers who spoke with The Guardian.

According to information obtained by The Guardian, the terrorists have targeted the NNPCL exploration site as well as nearby communities like Dusuman, Ngom, Jabarman, Gongulong Lawanti, Koshebe, and the outskirts of Muna Garage, which is located 20 kilometers east of Maiduguri.

Madinatu, the Maiduguri livestock market, and drivers and commuters using the Maiduguri-Monguno and Mafa routes are other targets.

According to reports, the two terror groups send small attacking detachments on motorcycles towards the Ngom community along the Maiduguri-Dikwa road. They then cross over to the 40-kilometer Maiduguri Mafa road before arriving at Konduga Local Council on the southern edge of Sambisa Forest, which is a major insurgent hideout in the Northeast.

A 65-year-old hunter called Konto Aliyu expressed concern about the security risks associated with the terrorists’ presence in the council areas, in addition to building a fortress and escape routes.

He encouraged Maj-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), to demolish the hideouts in Jere in order to reduce their ability to assault Army sites and nearby populations.
