On Wednesday, November 12, suspected bandits in Idadu, Agbashi Development Area of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, reportedly shot and killed three security personnel.

It was known that the victims were two vigilante members and a police officer from the Agbashi Police Division who were ambushed while conducting a combined patrol.

Community sources told Vanguard that the attackers opened fire on the officers when they were on a routine patrol along the Doma–Idadu Road.

According to the insider, the assailants used “commando-style precision,” firing at their targets without provocation or any effort at compromise.

Since at least seven people have been killed in the nearby Keana and Doma towns in the last week, the incident contributes to the growing wave of violence in the region.

The bandits, who are reportedly well-armed, have persisted in terrorizing locals around the area with frequent attacks.

The Nasarawa State Government has recently declared that it has stepped up security measures to stop the fresh round of attacks, but the killings still occur.

However, locals claim that since the killings started, no suspect has been taken into custody, causing a great deal of anxiety and annoyance.

Local communities have been calling for the Federal Government and the international community to step in in response to the recent wave of violence.

Locals claim that the ongoing attacks and the dearth of arrests indicate a deteriorating security scenario that calls for immediate and strong action.

As of the time this news was filed, security officials had not yet released an official statement regarding the most recent killing.
