According to reports, the National Union of Road and Transport Workers (NURTW) national secretariat has been taken over by a section led by Tajudeen Baruwa.
Members of the faction overran the union’s Abuja headquarters early on Monday, resulting in the takeover.
According to reports, there has been an internal leadership struggle between the NURTW sections commanded by Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, since 2024.
In November 2024, MC Olumo was chosen by NURTW members to serve as National President.
But when the disagreement turned into a lawsuit, the court decided in Baruwa’s favor.
MC Olumo has maintained his position as President in spite of the court decision.
