Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, was returned to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) after Tuesday’s hearings in two Kaduna courts.
The former governor was briefly released from detention a few days prior to this incident.
After his mother passed away on March 27, 2026, El-Rufai had previously been released from ICPC custody.
On Tuesday, however, he was re-arraigned as the cases against him resumed.
The former governor initially appeared in court in Kaduna State on a different accusation brought by the anti-graft agency.
However, the court’s proceedings were halted since the second defendant was not present.
The case was thus postponed until April 10, 2026.
El-Rufai was brought to the Federal High Court in Kaduna after the adjournment, and his bail plea was set to be heard there.
The bail application hearing was previously scheduled by the court for March 31, 2026.
The former governor was placed back under ICPC custody following the court hearings while the cases were being handled further.
More information later.
