On Monday, tensions increased at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja when security officers reportedly battled with demonstrators and supporters of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
According to reports, the throng was dispersed using tear gas.
The group’s will to return in spite of the disturbance was demonstrated by the voices of several protestors who were heard repeating, “We will come back; when it clears, we will come back,” in a video that our reporter referenced.
After an attempted arrest at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport last Thursday, El-Rufai and hundreds of his supporters had already arrived at the EFCC’s headquarters.
