President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s planned trips to Luanda, Angola, and Johannesburg, South Africa, have been postponed.
This was reportedly done while he awaited additional security briefings regarding the abduction of Kebbi schoolgirls and the assault on worshippers of Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.
President Tinubu has urged the police to pursue the bandits who attacked worshippers and ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the whole Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State in response to the governor’s request.
Recall that Tinubu was supposed to travel to Luanda to attend the 7th AU-EU Summit after leaving Abuja today to attend the 20th G20 Summit of leaders in South Africa.
President Tinubu made the decision to postpone his departure because of the security lapses in Kebbi State and the bandits’ attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku on Monday.
He is still awaiting information on the attack in Kwara from the Department of State Services and the police, as well as reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his order to the security services to take all necessary steps to free the 24 schoolgirls who had been kidnapped by the bandits and return them home safely.
