Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s assistant, Bashir Ahmad, sparked controversy on Thursday when he claimed that although Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, is a fine man, others around him will prevent him from realizing his goal.
Ahmad said in a post on his X account that if Obi’s fans truly wanted him to win, they ought to tell him to drop out of the 2027 presidential contest in favor of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ahmad stated, “Peter is a good man, but the people around him will never let him achieve his dream.”
He denounced what he called “reckless content” that Obi’s pals posted on social media, claiming that their public behavior might be a reflection of much more concerning private counsel.
He said, “One can only imagine the kind of things you tell him privately with this reckless content you post publicly.”
“Tell him to make sacrifices now so that others can make sacrifices for him tomorrow if you truly want him to succeed. Ahmad wrote, “Tell him to join us; let President Tinubu finish his mandate in 2031, then the future remains open for everyone.”
His remarks coincide with a scheme by powerful politicians, like as Peter Obi and former vice president Atiku Abubakar, to prevent Tinubu from serving a second term.
