General Olufemi Oluyede, the recently appointed Chief of Defense Staff, has denied claims of a purported Christian murder in Nigeria.
According to reports, President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) this week further escalated the accusation of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Additionally, the US President promised that the US military would step in if the Nigerian government did not put an end to the alleged persecution of Christians.
However, the CDS stated that there is no genocide against Christians, despite claims made by some US congressmen and religious freedom advocates, shortly after meeting with the National Security Adviser (NSA) on Monday.
He maintained that terrorism, which has afflicted Nigeria for many years, is a worldwide problem.
“There is no persecution of Christians in Nigeria,” he declared. I want to reassure Nigerians about it. Nigeria has been dealing with insecurity, particularly terrorism, for a considerable amount of time.
“We have been making every effort to prevent this act of terrorism from occurring within the nation.
“If there are nations that are willing to assist Nigeria, we are prepared to include them in our efforts to stop terrorism in Nigeria.”
