Nigeria’s Group C at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is extremely tough, according to Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who also warned that a repeat with Zambia will be difficult as the reigning champions strive for another continental crown.
Nnadozie acknowledged the caliber of the Zambian team in an interview with Super Falcons Show, and he anticipates a more formidable opponent than in their last encounter.
“It will not be easy to have Zambia in our group for the 2026 WAFCON,” she stated. “We won the last time we played them at the WAFCON, but it wasn’t a simple victory. They will definitely want to return and fight. Zambia is undoubtedly a wonderful country.
The goalie for Paris FC emphasized the Nigerian team’s depth and caliber, stating that the Super Falcons are prepared to play at the top level.
“They have excellent players on a very good squad. Our team does, however, have some talented players. We’re young, talented, energetic, nimble, and prepared to fight,” she continued.
Regarding Nigeria’s prospects of winning the championship again, Nnadozie emphasized the importance of discipline, concentration, and adherence to the team’s tactical strategy.
“Keeping the trophy won’t be simple, but there are options. “No country would want to watch us win the trophy again,” she remarked. “We’ll go there, maintain focus, train hard, work hard, maintain discipline, and continue to believe in mission ten.”
Nnadozie, who was just named Africa’s Best Goalkeeper for the third year in a row, gave appreciation to her coaches and teammates for her achievements.
“It means a lot to me to be awarded the African best goalkeeper for the third consecutive year. “Without my teammates and coaches, I am nothing,” she said.
The twenty-three-year-old acknowledged that the stakes are higher than ever because WAFCON 2026 doubles as qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027.
“This edition will be more difficult than the last one. We’re considering today, tomorrow, and the upcoming game,” she stated.
Nnadozie said that one of her greatest assets is her ability to remain composed under duress.
The more composed I am, the more clearly I see and think, the faster I play, and the better my reflexes are,” she stated. “I remain calm when others are frantic.”
