Three Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) personnel were slain in an attack at Bakin Ruwa, near the Maje border in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, by suspected Lakurawa militants.

It was discovered that the attack, which happened at midnight on Thursday, has caused panic and terror in the neighborhood.

The officers sought refuge in a nearby mosque, according to a source who spoke to Leadership. However, the gunmen pursued them and started firing sophisticated weapons, lighting the mosque on fire while the officers were inside.

During the assault, the terrorists destroyed the officers’ quarters as well.

The relevant authorities have not made an official statement about the occurrence as of the time this article was filed.

Major General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, has promised to take severe action against the Lakurawa terrorists who have been terrorizing areas of northern Nigeria.

During his Senate screening, Shaibu—who was just appointed by President Bola Tinubu—gave the promise.

“The Army will take severe action against the Lakurawa, a new bandit gang. An all-encompassing approach is necessary. He informed MPs, “We will ensure effective management of available resources, even though security is not cheap.”

In his account of his military career, the new Army chief mentioned his position as a commanding officer in Borno State, where he actively participated in counterinsurgency activities.
