Abubakar Malami (SAN), the former Attorney General of the Federation, has acknowledged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invited him.
According to reports, the former minister of justice promised to answer the agency’s call.
Malami posted the statement on his social media site. He served as president under previous President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 until 2023.
He declared his dedication to upholding transparency and due procedure.
Malami was involved in high-profile legal cases during his term, including government rulings that garnered public attention, asset recovery initiatives, and anti-corruption reforms.
He also dealt with issues involving financial crimes, arbitration disputes, and governance reforms.
He has been under investigation in recent years for things like fund management and asset declarations, which he has continuously rejected.
The EFCC has not yet disclosed the invitation’s specifics or the particular problems it is looking at.
Malami promised to keep the public updated on developments.
“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC,” he said on Facebook.
“I now reiterate my commitment to honoring the invitation as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen.
“I am aware of the values of transparency and accountability in public service, which I support and uphold.
“I am dedicated to sharing the developments with the Nigerian public as they happen because I am rooted in public service and in the spirit of transparency and accountability.”
