The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested and detained Samha Inuwa, a well-known actress in the Kannywood film industry in Northern Nigeria, on suspicion of abusing the Naira.
On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, members of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate arrested Inuwa.
The arrest came after a social media video went viral showing the actress wiping mucous from her nose with Naira notes.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development in a statement and said the video led the Commission to move quickly.
Oyewale claimed that when the video went viral, EFCC agents followed the actress and detained her for interrogation in relation to the suspected currency mutilation.
He revealed that while investigations are ongoing, Inuwa is being held at the Commission’s facilities.
Oyewale also stated that after the inquiry was finished, the actress will face charges.
