A soldier and a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were hurt in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

This revelation was made on X by Zagazola Makama, a security and counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region.

Makama revealed that the event happened on March 18 at around 8:35 a.m. as troops from the 34 Artillery Brigade were conducting a combined operation in the Orsu general region.

The source claims that the crew walked on a disguised pressure-activated IED while they were working near an alleged hideout of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed branch of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

It stated that both workers were hurt when the bomb exploded.

They received first aid right away and were then sent to a hospital for additional care.

The source stated that “operations are ongoing in the area to dismantle criminal hideouts and enhance safety.”
