Akor Adams, a striker for the Super Eagles, departed the national team’s camp after Nigeria defeated Mozambique 4-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.

On Tuesday, the Super Eagles’ official X site posted a brief message confirming the development.

The statement claims that Adams was allowed to leave camp in order to care for his mother, who was admitted to the hospital on Monday.

In order to visit his mother, who was admitted to the hospital yesterday, Akor Adams has been given permission to leave camp.

The statement said, “We’re sending prayers and strength to him and wishing his mom a quick recovery.”

Adams started the game despite learning of the news prior to Nigeria’s encounter against Mozambique, and he later scored the Super Eagles’ fourth goal against the Mambas.

Fans praised his performance in light of the circumstances surrounding his leaving.

The Super Eagles attacker, who plays club football for Sevilla, may or may not make it back in time for Nigeria’s quarterfinal match on Saturday.

The next round of the competition will pit the Super Eagles against either Algeria or the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
