Six verified deaths and two serious injuries have been reported from a traffic accident that happened at
Lagos-Ibadan expressway, NASFAT intersection.
At around 2:36 p.m. on Thursday, a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck collided.
According to reports, the 18-seater bus ran beneath a vehicle from Ibadan that was doing a U-turn close to the NASFAT area when it was driving from Lagos.
Afolabi Odunsi-Oyewole, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Ogun Sector Command Public Relations Officer, told reporters in Abeokuta that eight people were engaged in the incident.
According to the information, FRSC officers from Mowe Unit, Ibafo Outpost, an ambulance team from Ojota Unit Command, MTD RCCG Police Division, and TRACE Mowe division quickly arrived at the scene to rescue the victims, according to Odunsi-Oyewole, who attributed the crash to speeding.
The PRO claims that before to their arrival, good samaritans sent some injured victims to an unidentified hospital and others to Famobis Hospital, Lotto, for medical care.
He stated, “Today, January 1, 2026, at approximately 14:36 hours, there was an automobile accident. The FRSC rescue team was notified at approximately 14:40 hours, and they arrived at the scene at approximately 14:50 hours.”
The NASFAT intersection is the Lagos-Ibadan motorway.
Two cars were involved in the collision: a Volvo truck and a Mazda commercial bus.
There were eight individuals engaged; two (2) were injured and six (6) were killed.
“Overspeeding was the reason for the collision.
Before the team arrived, we were informed that some good Samaritans had taken some injured patients to an unidentified hospital. A few people received medical care at the Famobis Hospital in Lotto.
“During the transfer of the corpses to the mogue.”
A thorough inquiry into the collision has been ordered by Corps Commander Akinwumi Fasakin, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun State.
